For the first time this trip, Im getting exellent roomservice. The only thing is that Im getting it in a hospital. (You might be asking yourself why I've suddenly started writing in English. The reason is simply that I have gotten a few requests by non norwegian-speaking people who wants to read the blog) But there is an even bigger probability that you're asking yourself why I'm in a hospital. I will tell you.
Every fullmoon, there is a giant party in the island of Ko Panyang, Thailand. Naturally, we had to check it out. After a 28 hour journey from Siem Reap im Cambodia, we arrived in the party island tuesday around noon. The main party wasn't until thursday, but we came in early to get decent housing. After some well deserved hours of sleep, the warm up partying could begin. Out of consideration of family members, and possibly some authoroties reading this blog, I wont get into too much detail about these two warm up days. A couple of things can be mentioned though. I unfortunatelly lost my rare Lebron James jersey, Chris poured green bodypaint on his entire self went by the name Shrek(classic moment when we discovered he glew in the dark in the club. By the time we went on to the next one, he was back to skincolour, partly because the paint wore off, but mostly bacause EVERYBODY wanted to rub themselves against him). The crew consisted of me, chris, dean and steve from england, plus neighbours jason and stu. Tuesday and wednesday were amazing, and i was really looking forward to the main day. It actually rained quite a lot, but nobody seemed to mind. The beach was full as far as the eye could see. Drop in bar was perhaps the most happening bar, with two 7 feet(2meter) tall stages in the middle of the beach. There were room for about 10-12 people on each of these vertical dancefloors, but around 1.30am there must have been 20. A result of this was me falling down, landind on my arm and dislocating my elbow. I think i can hands down say its the most painful thing I have ever experienced, and this was even with some alcohol intact.(not too much, because the night was supposed to be young)
After realizing something is wrong, some girls come to help. They helped me up, and guided me through the crowd towards the first aid tent.(at that moment i had lost chris and them) I don't remember all the details, because it was hard to focus on anything but the pain. However, I remember an ambulence came to pick me up to go for an extremely bumby and painful car ride. They roll me in to the hospital in Ko Panyang, and the first thing i see is the Norwegian flag. Thats gotta be a good sign, was the first thought that came to mind. I was wrong. I went from pain village to pain universe. They had to do x rays of my arm in all sorts of angles, each as painful as the next. All of a sudden I couldn't take it anymore. I was all alone in a foreign country, i missed out on the biggest party ever, and oh yeah it felt like a bulldozer was stomping on my elbos. So I started crying. I'm a guy who's not afraid to admit that a teardrop ocationally comes out watching a touching movie, but I'm not a guy who cries. On thursday I wept like a little baby. If anybody doubts my manhood, I welcome them to the next fullmoonparty, so we can retrace the same steps, except its your arm this time....
The waterfall incident hopefully didnt last too long. I was then sent on a speedboat to go to Ko Samui, the biggest island. Joining me on this trip, were medical staff, and 15 guys returning to their bungalows.(a lot of people stay on other islands, and take the boat back and fourth to party) All the homecomers sat at the front of the boat, while I sat once again in deep pain under the roof in the middle. I started singing, just to put my mind away from the pain. It actually worked, and maybe the morphine kicked in a little too. Nevertheless, hitting those waves were not a treat. Now I really dont remeber much, but I know I told them I was well insured, and had many many money. That might actually be the reason they moved me to this hospital. We'll never know. I was greeted by a western woman, and then by an asian doctor. He showed x rays, and told me my elbow was dislocated. Maybe they took some x rays here too. But I didn't cry one more time!! At 6am, the procedure took place. I woke up at 9am in my room, and dozed off every now and then until 2 pm. Chris was power off, as the operator tells you, so I couldt get a hold of him. I needed my passport and travel insurance. And he was probably wondering where i was, especially because I was the one with the keys to the bungalow. After frantic facebook contact, I finally reached him, and he came over on what happened to be the last boat of the night. Turned out I had a roommate for the night.
Now I'm about to wake him up. We're supposed to check out in 40 minutes, which will be tough to accomplish. We want to celibrate Thai New Year in Phuket with Dean and Steve, and I really hope thats doable. Doc is gonna take off my casket later, and do new x rays. He said that my arm will most likely be fine, and an operation wont be necissary. Crossing the fingers I'm able to cross....
And yeah, that thing about the authoroties was a joke.
